Great question! There are lots of things you could do in San Jose. Alternatively, if you plan to stay on the outskirts of San Jose, perhaps hear Alajuela (the city where the SJO Airport is located), you may find my blog post “5 Things To Do In And Around Alajuela Costa Rica” helpful: https://costaricatravelblog.com/things-to-do-in-alajuela-costa-rica/- the article focuses on attractions outside of the city of San Jose. Most can be accessed in a rental car or via a guided tour/excursion.
