Hello! My husband and I are planning a visit to Costa Rica in November/December. While in the Arenal area, we’re staying at Chachagua Ranforest Lodge and will have a rental car. We’d like to do some night tours and dinners out in the La Fortuna area, but we’re not sure how safe it is to drive between those towns after dark. What is your advice?
Hi Dbuller13!
You’re in luck! That route (between La Fortuna and Chachagua) isn’t very challenging. It’s primarily flat. The biggest things to watch out for when driving that route after dark are hazards on the road (i.e., people walking or biking along the side of the road, wildlife crossing the road, large potholes, etc.). So long as you drive cautiously and at a low speed, you should be fine. 🙂
Pura vida!
