We recommend Exploradores Outdoors, who have offices in San Jose and Puerto Viejo de Talamanca (and a riverside operations center in Siquirres) but can provide rafting tour pick-ups and drop-offs at any two destinations among San Jose, La Fortuna, Puerto Viejo de Sarapiqui, Turrialba, Siquirres, Limon, Cahuita, and Puerto Viejo de Talamanca. They can also provide round-trip transportation between any of these destinations, so to answer your question, they can pick you up and drop you off in San Jose. They run 1-day Pacuare River rafting tours and overnight (2-day and 3-day) Pacuare River rafting tours. Overnight accommodations are typically provided at the Pacuare River Lodge. (Sometimes, during extremely busy periods, other accommodations in the area may be used.) If you’re looking for a luxurious stay, in this case, we’d recommend staying at the Pacuare Lodge. (Though similarly named, the Pacuare Lodge is different from the Pacuare River Lodge.) Multiday rafting and accommodation packages through the Pacuare Lodge include trips down the river with the rafting outfitter Aventuras Naturales.
