2 travelers here, really excited about our first upcoming trip to CR. We’ll be flying into San Jose – Juan Santamaria Intl. Airport the last week of April. We have a pretty extensive and probably/inevitably adventurous trip planned. So we need to rent for 3 weeks a 4×4 SUV/offroad with good ground clearance that (maybe) won’t get stuck in a stream/river during crossings. And that won’t break the bank if possible. Most car rental websites describe the cars as “SUV” but there’s no way to tell if they’re 2WD, AWD, or 4X4. We want to avoid getting to the car rental after a long flight from the US and finding out that they reserved the wrong car for us, etc. Not a great way to start a voyage and a surefire way to get ripped off. Nikki & Ricky, can you please recommend one or more reliable car rental companies for this, that rent 4X4 without ambiguity?
