We have been to the OSA Peninsula. Now, we want to work our way east. What activities/adventures do you suggest as we go.
,NikkiKeymasterHello marklongpre!
Thank you so much for your interest in DIY Costa Rica!
One quick question… are you in Costa Rica now or will you be visiting at a later date? I’m not sure if you’ve just left the Osa Peninsula and are headed to the Caribbean coast, or if you perhaps visited the Osa Peninsula on a previous trip and are currently brainstorming an itinerary for a new (future) trip that explores the Caribbean. I ask because some activities/adventures aren’t currently available due to COVID restrictions, so my recommendations to you will be different if you’re currently in the country versus if you’re merely formulating ideas for an upcoming trip. 🙂
Until soon!

I really appreciate your response; I have never attempted a forum. I am starting to get a sense of your website, I may have to bug you with questions. Wish me luck.
I am very ignorant of activities, places in route from San Jose. I think I will just start poking around and see what I find in your recommendations.
If you have any “must do’s” to start my research, I am all ears. Thanks, Mark & Tricia,NikkiKeymasterHello marklongre!
That’s great news! Hopefully, by December 2021 the pandemic will have settled down, international travel (and tourism operations) will have resumed, and there will be more options available to you. For now, I can certainly help answer some of your trip planning questions.
Since you’re in the beginning stages of planning your next trip, you may actually find some of the articles on our blog (www.costaricatravelblog.com) more useful to you at the present time. Our DIY Costa Rica recommendations are likely to come in handy further down the road when you’re fine-tuning your travel plans. This is because the articles on our blog are great starting points; they cover a wide range of topics, and compile, compare, and contrast a ton of information. Our DIY Costa Rica recommendations are our targeted “best of” picks. Here’s an example of how each can help you but in different ways. If you want to visit the hot springs during your trip (these are most common in the La Fortuna / Arenal vicinity), you’ll find an article on our blog that compares and contrasts all 12 hot springs options in the La Fortuna area. While helpful, the information in the article is largely impartial (most of our blog posts are written this way). To learn which specific hot springs property we feel is the best of the 12, you’ll find this information on DIY Costa Rica (the recommendation is titled “Best Hot Springs”). In short, our blog posts provide a ton of information in order to cater to a wide variety of readers, and posts are written in a way that allows readers to decide for themselves which places, activities, etc. are the best. In contrast, the recommendations on DIY Costa Rica are our personal favorites.
Since you mentioned you’re most interested in checking out the Caribbean coast, perhaps I’ll leave you with a link to the following blog post, which is an article we wrote about Puerto Viejo de Talamanca, a popular hub of the Caribbean coast. This would be a “must-read” article, I’d say, if you’re planning on heading to the Caribbean region; it provides a look into the type of experience you’ll have there. From that article’s page, you can use the menu (the black box at the top of our blog) to search for other articles of interest. 🙂
