In trying to decide whether to include Arenal in our itinerary it would be helpful to know about the road conditions getting there. As you approach Arenal is the road paved, twisty, dirt with potholes? I get motion sick very easily so wondering how challenging the drive is.

About fitness levels, we are in our late 60s, reasonably fit (go on 3 mile walks, do yoga regularly). We’re not interested in strenuous rugged activities including things like zip lining or white water rafting for example. In that case, are there still plenty of activities around Arenal like easier walks or hikes?
